Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

A:  Both open and closed colon hydrotherapy systems are safe and effective, but they differ in how water is introduced into the colon, how waste is expelled, and how involved the therapist is during the session. Here's a breakdown:

Open System Colon Hydrotherapy (LIBBE)

  • Water Flow: Filtered, UV-purified water flows gently and continuously throughout the session.

  • Waste Elimination: Waste is naturally expelled into the table’s built-in drain, similar to using the toilet.

  • Privacy: You self-insert a small, disposable nozzle in complete privacy. Your therapist steps out during your session but checks in periodically and is available at the push of a wireless call button.

  • View Tube: A clear viewing tube allows you to observe what’s being released during the process.

  • Ideal For: Clients who prefer more independence and minimal therapist involvement during their session.

Closed System Colon Hydrotherapy (Hydro-San Plus)

  • Water Flow: Your therapist gently introduces filtered water in cycles, controlling the flow, pressure, and temperature throughout.

  • Waste Elimination: Waste is released through a closed waste tube, managed by your therapist using abdominal massage and supportive techniques.

  • Therapist Involvement: Your therapist stays with you for the full 30–45 minute session, offering hands-on support, comfort, and care throughout.

  • View Tube: A clear tube allows both you and your therapist to observe the releases.

  • Ideal For: Clients who prefer full support and guidance during their colonic treatment.

🔹First time? We typically recommend the closed system for your initial session. It allows your therapist to walk you through each step, explain what you're experiencing, and use lower water pressure in shorter cycles—often making the experience more comfortable and less intense than the continuous flow of the open system.

🔹Both systems maintain full modesty with sheets or gowns, and all speculums are single-use. Your comfort, and dignity are our top priority.

Still unsure which method is best for you? Contact us anytime — we're happy to help you choose the option that suits your comfort and wellness goals.

What to Expect During a Closed Colonic

Before the Session:
You’ll undress from the waist down and lie on a massage-style table, where you’ll be properly draped to maintain full modesty throughout the session. A disposable, lubricated speculum is self-inserted while lying on your left side. Once inserted, you’ll turn onto your back, and your colon hydrotherapist will guide you through the session from start to finish.

During the Session:
Your therapist stays with you the entire time, offering continuous guidance and support. Water is gently introduced into the colon in intervals. When you feel the urge to release, the therapist will stop the water and allow waste to be eliminated through a closed waste line, preventing odor and maintaining a dignified, hygienic environment.

This cycle of gentle fills and releases is repeated over the course of a 30–45 minute session. No pushing is necessary—your only job is to relax and breathe while your therapist monitors your comfort and progress. A view tube is available so both you and your therapist can observe the release, if desired. (This is the best part!!)

This method is ideal for clients who prefer a hands-on, guided colonic with the reassurance of a trained professional present throughout. It also tends to be more gentle for first-time clients, as the water pressure and flow can be fully customized for comfort.

Our open colon hydrotherapy sessions utilize the FDA-registered LIBBE system, offering a gentle, self-directed cleansing experience in a safe and private setting. The system uses UV-purified, temperature-controlled water that flows by gravity, creating a natural and comfortable detox process.

Water first passes through a carbon filter, followed by ultraviolet light purification before entering the colon.

What to Expect During an Open Colonic

Before the Session:
You’ll undress from the waist down and lie on the fiberglass LIBBE table, where you’ll be given a drape sheet to remain properly draped for comfort and modesty. A single-use, pencil-sized rectal nozzle is self-inserted in privacy before the session begins.

During the Session:
Water enters the colon gently through the gravity-fed column. When you feel the urge to release, waste and water naturally exit the body into a built-in drain located in the table. This process is repeated several times during your 30–45 minute session.

A clear view tube allows you to observe the releases, if desired. While you have privacy during the session, your trained colon hydrotherapist is always nearby and checks in regularly to provide support and answer any questions.

After the Session:
A built-in sprayer is available to rinse off comfortably after your treatment. The LIBBE system is sanitized after every session using hospital-grade disinfectants, ensuring a safe, clean environment. This option is ideal for those who prefer a more independent experience while still having professional assistance close by.

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

Colon Hydrotherapy is often referred to as a colonic, a colon cleanse or colon irrigation. These are names for hydrotherapy which uses water for inner cleansing. Colon hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of removing waste, gas and mucous from the large intestine, using FDA registered equipment, without the use of drugs. Professional Colon Hydrotherapy Devices have systems, that the pressure, temperature, and flow of water, are all safely regulated throughout the session. Filtered and temperature regulated water is introduced into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through stimulating natural peristalsis. The inflow of water and the release of waste may be repeated many times. There is no odor! Odor is whisked away thru a sewer drain pipe. Our colon hydrotherapists are trained, certified and members of I-ACT and board certified with the National Board of Colon Hydrotherapy.

Why Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

Why Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

The colon—also known as the large intestine—plays a vital role in digestive health, absorbing water and nutrients while eliminating waste and toxins from the body. Over time, the colon can accumulate waste buildup, toxins, and undigested material, which may contribute to symptoms like bloating, fatigue, constipation, skin issues, and more.

Colon hydrotherapy offers a gentle and effective way to support your body’s natural detoxification processes, helping to flush out toxins from environmental pollutants, GMOs, pesticides, processed foods, and chronic stress. Regular cleansing of the colon can lead to improved digestion, enhanced nutrient absorption, better elimination, and a greater sense of overall well-being.

“All disease begins in the gut.” — Hippocrates

Toxic buildup in the colon has been linked to a variety of health concerns, including leaky gut syndrome, inflammation, autoimmune disorders, and even chronic disease. Unlike enemas, which only reach the lower portion of the colon, colon hydrotherapy gently irrigates the entire length of the colon using warm, purified water—helping to release accumulated waste that may have been stored for months or even years.

In fact, the average adult can carry several pounds of compacted waste in the colon without realizing it. Colon hydrotherapy offers a safe solution to help reset your gut and restore balance to your digestive system.

History about Colon hydrotherpy / Colonic

The origins of colon hydrotherapy date back to ancient Egypt, where early forms of enemas were used to support digestive health and detoxification. Historical records show that Egyptians used hollow reeds or gourds to introduce water or herbal infusions into the rectum, as plastic and rubber were not yet available. These early cleansing techniques were considered an essential part of their medical and spiritual practices.

Over time, the practice evolved. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the development of rubber and plastic enabled safer and more effective equipment, giving rise to modern colon hydrotherapy systems.

In 1917, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg published findings in the Journal of American Medicine, highlighting the benefits of bowel cleansing, diet, and exercise in treating gastrointestinal disorders. His work helped bring credibility to internal cleansing in mainstream health practices.

Colon hydrotherapy continued to gain traction, eventually drawing the attention of James A. Wiltsie, M.D., who noted that “our knowledge of the normal and abnormal physiology of the colon, and its pathology and management, has not kept pace with that of many organs and systems of the body.”

Today, colon hydrotherapy is a respected wellness modality—supported by modern technology, FDA-registered equipment, and a growing understanding of the vital role gut health plays in overall wellness.

How Many sessions?

If this is a first time session, or if it has been a while since the last one, it is recommended to choose a series of 2-3 in a 7 to 10 day period, or as close together as possible. Depending on each person, more or fewer sessions may be needed.

It is rare to get a full cleanse of the colon in a single session.

Elimination depends on many factors including the stress level, health of the colon, diet and hydration. The colon is approximately 5 feet in length, for most people it may take a few sessions to allow hydration and elimination.

Tips for best results

 Before your session:

  • The days before the appointment eat as many water content foods as possible, examples: raw and cooked green leafy vegetables, raw vegetable drinks and whole grains. This will start hydrating the colon to ease your experience.
  • Cut down on all processed foods, and meat, some examples: white flour products, cheese, dried foods, greasy foods, red meat and sugar. These foods have a tendency to dehydrate the colon and can make the experience more challenging.
  • Avoid eating 2 hours before the colon hydrotherapy appointment.
  • Avoid drinking liquids 1 hour before. It can make your bladder full during the colon hydrotherapy session.
  • Avoid all diuretic foods one day prior to your appointment, including; coffee, tea, alcohol, or soda. These can dehydrate and also make the bladder full.

After your session:

  • It is best to eat light foods that are easy on the digestive system, for example: Steamed vegetables, soup and light protein. Replenish the electrolytes. Fresh juice, Aloe Vera Juice, Fresh Coconut Milk, and herbal teas.
  • Avoid meat, nuts , caffeine, alcohol and icy foods & drinks, since the colon just exercised.
  • Drink 6-8 oz water each hour to continue hydrating.
  • Add a Probiotic to your daily routine.
  • Adding ¼ tsp. pink salt to your water will help absorption.
  • The days following the session should be filled with vegetables, soup, fruits, whole grains/sprouted grains and pure water.
  • For better health, avoid anything processed, bottled or canned; sugar, pasteurized dairy and all whites/starches (sugar, flour, rice).
