Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

A: The primary differences between open and closed colon hydrotherapy treatments lie in how water is introduced to the colon and how the waste and water are expelled.

Open System:

  • Water Introduction: In an open system, water flows continuously throughout the entire treatment.
  • Waste and Water Release: Waste and water are released naturally, pushed out as if you were on a toilet. This process happens without the need for intervention from the therapist, great if you prefer privacy during your treatment. The therapist will check on you periodically and is reachable through a wireless doorbell.
  • View Tube: Both systems feature a clear view tube, allowing you to see the releases.

Closed System:

  • Water Introduction: In a closed system, water is introduced intermittently by the therapist. The therapist is in the room for the entire session and will also provide abdominal massage throughout.
  • Waste and Water Release: Waste and water are released via a waste tube through stimulation of the body's peristalsis, managed by the therapist.
  • View Tube: Similar to the open system, a clear view tube is present to observe the releases.

Both methods are effective, but the choice between open and closed systems often depends on personal preference and comfort level.  Modesty is protected at all times with both systems, sheets and/or gowns are provided. If you have further questions, feel free to contact us!

Colonic / Colon Hydrotherapy / Closed colonic / closed colon hydrotherapy

Closed Colon hydrotherapy

We use a Hydro San Plus Colon Hydrotherapy System that is FDA registered. The hot and cold water independently pass through a Three Phase Filtering Sequence before entering the colon. Water temperature is safely controlled and adjusted. A closed colon hydrotherapy / colonic session is different from an open session in that your therapist will be with you throughout the entire session.

At the beginning of the colonic session:

The client will undress from the waist down and lie on their back on a massage style table. The client will be properly draped during the entire colonic session. A disposable lubricated speculum is self-inserted while laying on your left side, the client will then turn on their back.

During your colonic session:

Your colon hydrotherapist will communicate with you prior to introducing any water to your colon to ensure you are comfortable, when you feel pressure as if you need to use the restroom, the therapist will remove the water from your colon. This process is repeated many times during the 30-45 minute colonic session. All the client will need to do is breathe and relax as much as possible, no pushing necessary.

The closed colonic speculum is connected to both the water line and the waste hose. The water will enter the colon through the water line. The water and release will move out through the waste hose. There is a view tube on the system to allow the client and therapist to view what is being released. Your trained colon hydrotherapist will communicate with you throughout your session to ensure you are comfortable.

Colonic / Colon hydrotherapy / open colonic / open colon hydrotherapy

Open Colon Hydrotherapy

We use a Libbe Colon Hydrotherapy System that is FDA registered. Water flows through a Carbon Filter and an Ultra Violet Purification System before it passes through the nozzle / rectal tube. A gentle slow rate of UV purified-temperature safe water is fed from the gravity-fed column. Less than ten gallons of water may be used during the session at a safe temperature. Water temperature is safely controlled and adjusted.

At the beginning of the colonic session:

The client will undress from the waist down, lay on their back, properly draped and self insert a small nozzle / rectal tube in privacy. Nozzles / rectal tubes are the ‘size of a pencil’, single use, and disposed of after use.

During the colonic session:

Water flows through a Carbon Filter which removes any sediment, rust, or chlorine. The water is purified by an Ultra Violet Purification System, before it passes through the nozzle / rectal tube. Water will enter the colon at a gentle slow rate, pressure will be felt as if you need to use the restroom. The water will be released naturally into a hole/drain in the table. There is over three feet of clear viewing tube next to the table, which allows the client and the therapist to easily view the waste during releases. This process is repeated many times during the 30-45 minute session. Privacy will be given during your session and your therapist will check on you regularly. Your trained colon hydrotherapist is always nearby to monitor and provide assistance and comfort as needed.

After each session:

A rinsing sprayer is used to rinse your bottom after your colonic session. Sessions last approximately 45 minutes. Modesty is protected at all times.  The Libbe is easily and safely disinfected with hospital grade disinfectant. The Libbe is comfortable and may be operated in privacy for those who prefer solitude.

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

Colon Hydrotherapy is often referred to as a colonic, a colon cleanse or colon irrigation. These are names for hydrotherapy which uses water for inner cleansing. Colon hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of removing waste, gas and mucous from the large intestine, using FDA registered equipment, without the use of drugs. Professional Colon Hydrotherapy Devices have systems, that the pressure, temperature, and flow of water, are all safely regulated throughout the session. Filtered and temperature regulated water is introduced into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through stimulating natural peristalsis. The inflow of water and the release of waste may be repeated many times. There is no odor! Odor is whisked away thru a sewer drain pipe. Our colon hydrotherapists are trained, certified and members of I-ACT and board certified with the National Board of Colon Hydrotherapy.

Why Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

The main actions of the colon/large intestine are to absorb water, vitamins and to eliminate waste. Cleaning the colon naturally can assist the body in detoxifying from pesticides, GMOS, environmental factors, stress and more, resulting in greater overall health and well-being. All of these factors can have harmful, long lasting effects on our bodies. A well functioning colon is essential for maintaining overall wellness.

''All disease begins in the gut'' -Hippocrates

A build up of toxins in the body can be associated with many diseases, such as leaky gut, inflammation, auto-immune disorders and cancer.

Enemas will only reach the lower portion of the colon. Colon hydrotherapy is able to cleanse the entire colon with gentle flushes.  It is possible for the average person to carry a number of pounds of waste in the colon which has been building up over time.

What to expect

About Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic

What Colon Hydrotherapy may help with

At your first session, your therapist will go over your health information on the intake form. You and your therapist will discuss any concerns and expected outcome. A colonic takes place in an integrated clinical setting in a private room, affording the patient both modesty and dignity and the practitioner ease-of-use.

Your room will be private. Some people choose to read, watch tv on their phones or listen to their own music! Your dignity is always maintained.  You are covered with a gown and towel during the entire process. Disposable ‘single-use’ speculum / rectal tubes are provided for each client. During the session, most upper clothing can be kept on – You will be draped to always ensure your modesty. Your therapist will be communicating with you to ensure you are comfortable throughout the session.

History about Colon hydrotherpy / Colonic

History about Colon hydrotherpy / Colonic

History about Colon hydrotherpy / Colonic

Historians tell us that the practice of Colon Hydrotherapy, or in its basic form; Enema, was first used by the Egyptians. By the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, with the advent of rubber and plastic the enema slowly gave way to strict FDA standards and safety in colon hydrotherapy equipment. Dr. Kellogg reported in the 1917 Journal of American Medicine that utilized cleansing of the bowels, diet and of course exercise as a popular treatment. Colon Hydrotherapy eventually gained the attention of James A. Wiltsie, M.D., Who contended that “our knowledge of the normal and abnormal physiology of the Colon, and its pathology and management, has not kept pace with that of many Organs and Systems of the body.”

How Many sessions?

If this is a first time session, or if it has been a while since the last one, it is recommended to choose a series of 2-3 in a 7 to 10 day period, or as close together as possible. Depending on each person, more or fewer sessions may be needed.

It is rare to get a full cleanse of the colon in a single session.

Elimination depends on many factors including the stress level, health of the colon, diet and hydration. The colon is approximately 5 feet in length, for most people it may take a few sessions to allow hydration and elimination.

Tips for best results

 Before your session:

  • The days before the appointment eat as many water content foods as possible, examples: raw and cooked green leafy vegetables, raw vegetable drinks and whole grains. This will start hydrating the colon to ease your experience.
  • Cut down on all processed foods, and meat, some examples: white flour products, cheese, dried foods, greasy foods, red meat and sugar. These foods have a tendency to dehydrate the colon and can make the experience more challenging.
  • Avoid eating 2 hours before the colon hydrotherapy appointment.
  • Avoid drinking liquids 1 hour before. It can make your bladder full during the colon hydrotherapy session.
  • Avoid all diuretic foods one day prior to your appointment, including; coffee, tea, alcohol, or soda. These can dehydrate and also make the bladder full.

After your session:

  • It is best to eat light foods that are easy on the digestive system, for example: Steamed vegetables, soup and light protein. Replenish the electrolytes. Fresh juice, Aloe Vera Juice, Fresh Coconut Milk, and herbal teas.
  • Avoid meat, nuts , caffeine, alcohol and icy foods & drinks, since the colon just exercised.
  • Drink 6-8 oz water each hour to continue hydrating.
  • Add a Probiotic to your daily routine.
  • Adding ¼ tsp. pink salt to your water will help absorption.
  • The days following the session should be filled with vegetables, soup, fruits, whole grains/sprouted grains and pure water.
  • For better health, avoid anything processed, bottled or canned; sugar, pasteurized dairy and all whites/starches (sugar, flour, rice).
